Aldi to Open 27 Stores in Texas

Essen, Germany-based Aldi Group announced plans to open 27 new stores in North Texas during spring 2010. The first 11 stores are slated to open in March, with nine more scheduled for April and seven in May. According to the Dallas Business Journal, the new store openings will add 400 jobs to the area. Currently, Aldi operates a $50 million, 500,000-sq.-ft. distribution center in Denton, Texas that employs 75 workers. The company operates approximately 9,000 locations worldwide, including 1,000 stores in the United States.
